French foodservice giant Sodexo said Monday it is disappointed with Alaska salmon producers’ decision to pull out of the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) eco-label program, but remains committed to the MSC.

“Sodexo is committed to sourcing from MSC fisheries and was therefore disappointed to hear of the decision taken by the Alaskan salmon fishery,"  the company said in a statement to IntraFish.

"We hope the Alaskan companies that decided to abandon MSC certification will consider the need for a consistent global standard for sustainable seafood supply and change their position.
