Five companies are now signed on to the new Alaska salmon Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) eco-label certificate, Kerry Coughlin of the MSC told IntraFish on Thursday.

Coughlin provided three of the five company names to IntraFish, but said the remaining two "have not agreed to be disclosed."

"It is not a requirement that the companies be disclosed at this time if they choose not to be. Once the certificate is issued they will be named on it and public," she said.

The three that have signed on and will be eligible to use the MSC seal on Alaska salmon in 2013 are: International Seafoods of Alaska, Copper River Seafoods and Silver Bay Seafoods.
