UK retail chain WM Morrison Supermarkets will be supplied with products from its new Grimsby fish plant the first time this week, since production began on Sept. 3.

The plant, whose news was first broken by IntraFish and later confirmed by Morrisons, marks the first step in vertical integration on seafood production for the retail giant, though it is already vertically integrated in meat and vegetables.

"We expect to produce 70 metric tons of seafood from the site this week, processing mainly cod, haddock and salmon fillets," a company spokesperson told IntraFish.
