Findus Nordic inked a long-term agreement with Swedish equipment supplier Vegafish for the construction and operation of a land-based shrimp farm in Bjuv, Sweden, the company announced.
Vegafish, which develops land-based, recirculating biofloc systems for fish and shellfish farming, will develop and run the grow-out operations, and Findus take on the freezing, packaging, sales and distribution of the shrimp under the Findus brand to the Swedish retail markets.
The companies described the plant as "the first of its kind in the world."
