The two, who formerly owned several Blimpie sandwich franchises, opened Nemos Seafood less than eight months ago. They already have applications from interested entrepreneurs for more than 200 restaurants, with 15 franchises already awarded in New Jersey, Georgia, North Carolina, Illinois and Canada.

“Hamburgers, sub shops, the chicken market were really flooded, over-flooded. We realized if we went into the food business, we felt we could be successful in an area that hasn’t been overpopulated,” CEO Spears told IntraFish on Tuesday.
