The Marine Stewardship Council said Tuesday the bulk of the Alaska salmon fishery is now recertified sustainable under the MSC standard and can carry the group's eco-label.

The Prince William Sound unit remains in assessment pending additional data.

The 13 recertified units cover all other Alaska salmon. The Alaska salmon fishery was first certified in 2000 and recertified in 2007.

The announcement follows a decision earlier this month in which an independent adjudicator dismissed objections to the recertification of the fishery filed by the Wild Fish Conservancy, the Watershed Watch Salmon Society, Skeena Wild Conservation Trust and Raincoast Conservation Foundation.
