New figures from Seafish show spiking fish prices are beginning to drag on the United Kingdom's growing seafood sales.
The figures, produced in partnership with AC Nielsen, show seafood sales hit £2.67 billion (€3.4 billion/$5.3 billion) in the year to March 2008, up 5 percent over last year.
That all seems well and good -- until you drill down a bit more into the stats. While the overall retail market grew sales in all categories except fresh seafood meals and showed remarkable spikes in the shellfish category, the increases all came on price rises.
