There are 76 grant winners sharing $7.8 million (€5.9 million) in money from the federal Saltonstall-Kennedy Fund, which gets revenue from duties and tariffs levied against foreign seafood imports. The money is distributed by AFMB and all of the grants must be partly matched by recipients.
Ocean Beauty Seafoods received $516,709 (€390,963); Peter Pan Seafoods, $444,852 (€336,593); Icicle Seafoods, $418,942 (€316,995) and Trident Seafoods, $369,706 (€279,879).
Alaskan processors Bear and Wolf LLC got $338,945 (€256,464) and Norquest Seafoods, now owned by Trident, was awarded $187,432 (€141,821).
