The Fishermen’s Resource Centre Inc., the business development arm of the Fish, Food and Allied Workers’ (FFAW) union, will receive $431,000 ($421,700/€323,630) from the Community Adjustment Fund-Lobster Framework, and $176,000 ($172,200/€32,160) from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) to measure the effectiveness of conservation efforts implemented in the lobster industry.
The research will support enhanced market development and lay the groundwork for the resolution of a number of issues which currently detract from sustainable industry and market development in the lobster fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador.
