Salmon production in Chile is growing too rapidly. It is only a matter of time before disease breaks out again, said a Chilean academic.

That’s according to Marine Biologist and Professor Eduardo Tarifena Silva (pictured) of the Universidad de Concepcion in Chile.

“The industry is delighted that Chile will soon be up again to the production levels it had before infectious salmon anemia (ISA). They should be worried instead. I think it is only a matter of time before Chile is once again hit by disease”, Silva told IntraFish sister publication FiskeribladetFiskaren.
