Thor -- which operates a fleet of eight large ships fishing all over the world -- has the only scallop dredge license in the Faroes, and is undergoing an MSC assessment for its queen scallop fishery.
Applying for MSC certification has not been a popular move in the Faroes, where much of the fishing industry is suspicious of the process, Thor’s project development manager, Jogvan Martin Joensen, told Fishing News International.
