Tuesday saw a new government take the reins in the Faroe Islands when Social Democrat Aksel V. Johannesen took over as governor from Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen.

The new government is comprised of three parties: Tjodveldi (Republicans), Framsokn (Progress Party) and Javnadarflokkurin (Social Democrats). They hold 17 mandates of the Lagtinget’s (Faroese Parliament's) 33 seats.

This brought about a change of cabinet ministers for fisheries and aquaculture.
