The most recent export figures from the Faroe Islands show just as much salmon was exported so far in 2014 year-on-year -- but the fish are fetching better prices.
The first seven months of this year – for a number of countries, including Norway – proved a trying time on the Russian market, but for Faroese producers it was the opposite: exports to Russia jumped 7 percent in value on last year’s volume.
Figures from the Faroese statistics bureau Hagstovan show 33,616 metric tons of salmon were exported between January and including July this year.
