Farmed salmon has proven more popular than wild caught salmon in a taste test organized by The Washington Post.

The paper asked panelists consisting of noted Washington seafood chefs and a seafood wholesaler to try 10 samples of farm-raised and wild-caught salmon that had been lightly salted and steamed.

The samples included wild king salmon from Washington, frozen farmed from Costco, and eight in between, including Verlasso farmed salmon from Chile, which is the first open-pen farmed salmon to get a Seafood Watch “buy” recommendation.
