Executives at Washington-based American Seafoods and Oregon-based Pacific Seafood Group on Wednesday afternoon denied a report the two companies are in negotiations after seafood news website Seafoodsource.com reported a deal was imminent.
The website later issued a correction, saying it wrongly identified American Seafoods as Pacific Seafoods' potential acquisition target, and instead reported Pacific is closing in on Los Angeles-based distributor American Fish & Seafood.
Pacific Seafoods CEO Frank Dulcich told IntraFish there was "no truth to the rumor" his company was acquiring American Seafoods, and later dismissed the report that Pacific was looking to acquire American Fish & Seafood.
