It's been an up and down year for the world's seafood shares, but October has been decidedly down (see charts below). The past two weeks have seen investors fleeing major seafood stocks as third-quarter earnings season looms.
Marine Harvest shares are down 12 percent on the Olso Stock Exchange in October, on slumping salmon prices and an uninspiring rating from Goldman Sachs. Prices are near lows not seen since late 2005.
Other European shares, including Cermaq, Austevoll Seafood and Leroy Seafood Group, experienced drops since the beginning of the month.
