India's rapid switch to vannamei farming has been well documented, as Indian producers follow the trail of money that comes from exporting this species.

But the cost might be too high for fishermen who go out to sea, as exporters are allegedly refusing to buy wild-caught shrimp and fish species, instead favoring vannamei which is readily lapped up in export markets of Europe and the United States.
