Ramus, a former manager of M&J Seafood’s Park Royal branch in north London, was sentenced to three years and three months at Harrow Crown Court March 9 for false accounting and theft, after pleading guilty to the charges a month earlier.

“The value of his gain was around £400,000 (€445,000/$587,000),” according to a statement from London’s Metropolitan Police emailed to IntraFish.

Between August 2007 and February 2008, “Ramus had been selling on fish belonging to the company for cash and then transporting it to a holding place until the buyer collected it,” according to the police.
