Samsing, of Norwegian and Chilean nationality, had led Ewos Chile for 18 years, staying on after Isaksen led Cermaq’s acquisition of Ewos in 2000.
“Samsing has private matters to attend to. After 18 years it is maybe not so surprising either that he may want to try something else,” Isaksen said.
Samsing’s family moved to Chile in the early 20th century, after first trying out their luck in Buenos Aires. In Chile his grandfather Hans Riddervold settled in Punta Arenas, near the Magellan Straights, where a small colony of Norwegian settlers formed in the first half of the century.
