The EU’s fisheries policy is a fiasco. A critical and confidential report, of which parts were recently published by the Financial Times, states the fisheries policy has failed.
Reference is made in the report to the fact the EU fishing industry is low on profitability and that overfishing of EU waters amounts to about 80 percent.
When you consider the EU organizes the most authoritative democracies in the world, you have to ask yourself why this overfishing can continue year after year, and where some stocks are on the brink of collapse.
