The Long Distance Advisory Council recently hosted a conference where discussions on the External Dimension of the CFP were engaged by both European and African delegates from all sectors of the industry and government, NGO representatives and other interested parties.

Appropriately, it was held in Gran Canaria -- geographically part of Africa, but very much politically and culturally part of Spain.

At the conference, Alexandre Rodriguez, executive secretary of LDAC, noted the Canaries are developing, as are its African neighbors, and Gran Canaria in particular provides the gateway for Africa’s imports to Europe, of which seafood is only a part.
