At the Aquaculture Europe conference in Istanbul, Turkey last week, Borg presented the EU’s new plan to develop seafood Europe industries.
Sticking closely to aquaculture matters, Borg told delegates the European Commission (EC) approved a so called “Blue paper” on European seafood industries of the future on Oct. 10.
Borg said the EU is focusing efforts on achieving sustainability, and that seafood should be seen as part of integrated strategy.
The EU intends to support clusters, or groupings that can play a part in boosting progress in innovation.
