The European Union (EU) is revising its regulation to tighten its inspection of aquaculture products imported from India, reports The Business Standard.

The revised rules allow the EU to take official samples from at least 50 percent of consignments presented for import at border inspection posts across the member states. Before the rule change the EU 10 percent of consignments be similarly sampled.

According to an EU decision taken on October 4, the amendment is in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed.
