European Union (EU) processors are concerned over a leaked document which shows that duties on seafood imported for processing could be increased from 2013.

If adopted, the document’s proposals signal a worrying trend for the processing sector, Danish and EU processing representatives told IntraFish.

“We don’t like the sentiment in the European parliament or in the commission,” Guus Pastoor, who heads the European association of fish processors, importers and exporters AIPCE-CEP, said.

The AIPCE has long argued for a removal of all import tariffs on products destined for processing in the EU.
