The news that several Alaska processors that formerly rejected the use of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) on its wild salmon will resume selling its product as certified to the standard came as a positive surprise for many European processors.

Industry members canvassed by IntraFish agreed the move is good news, and suspect commercial reasons behind the decision, prompted partly by projections for another huge harvest of sockeye and pink salmon.
