Waddah Saab, a member of EU fisheries commissioner Joe Borg’s cabinet said space could be found for both aquaculture and tourism in "marine policy."
”The job of developing the aquaculture industry in Europe has taken off, and if we are to sort out the conflicts over area, moving activities offshore, and investing in closed systems, could be avenues we will go down. Offshore aquaculture is of interest for the EU,” Saab said.
Several plans have now been initiated in the EU to rejuvenate the aquaculture industry.
