The North Sea Regional Advisory Council (RAC) stressed recently the fishing industry must be centrally involved to make the landings obligations effective and ensure that boats stay economically viable.
The RAC recently held a special workshop in Brussels to discuss all the issues surrounding what will be a fundamental change for fishing industry operations.
NSRAC Chairman Niels Wichmann said the workshop had been an excellent starting point to begin the work that would be needed to ensure fishermen would be able to comply with the new landings regulation as it is phased in.
