The Economist’s World Ocean Summit kicks off this evening, opening its doors to hundreds of delegates from across the globe.

IntraFish Media has again joined forces with The Economist as a supporter of the summit, held in Cascais, Portugal.

This year, the event’s agenda is heavy on seafood-related topics, including panels on fisheries and the blue economy and aquaculture. In addition, seafood executives including Nutreco CEO Knut Nesse and Cermaq CEO Jon Hindar will be featured on panels highlighting growing the blue economy.  

Among other presenters at the conference are: Norway Minister of Fisheries Elisabeth Aspaker, European Commissioner of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Karmenu Vella, former fisheries and maritime affairs commissioner Maria Damanaki, Mike Velings, founder and managing partner of private equity group Aqua-Spark, and Magdalena Lamprecht Wallhoff, director of Regal Springs Tilapia.

IntraFish Media Editorial Director Drew Cherry will moderate a panel on aquaculture on day two of the event.
