Marel and Stork Food Systems are active in the manufacture and sale of machinery and equipment for the processing of poultry, fish and red meat.
Stork supplies machinery and equipment for the processing of liquid products -- dairy and juices -- and potatoes. Marel is not active in these areas.
The deal would not impede effective competition in the European Union, the commission said.
