Massachusetts-based Eastern Fisheries is on the cusp of increasing its ability to purchase Japanese scallops by partnering with one of its oldest suppliers, but that's not the company's only investment.

"It will double our buying power," Executive Vice President Joseph Furtado told IntraFish. "It will also provide a platform for us to make our next move deeper into the marketplace."

Across the world, Eastern is focusing on the procurement, marketing and sustainability of Peruvian scallops, according to Furtado.

"The Peruvian scallop is the best value in the marketplace today," Furtado told IntraFish.
