While some are calling the season one of the worst in recent memory for tonnage, the prices and sales of Dungeness crab have seldom been higher.
Hugh Link, executive director of the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission, told IntraFish fishermen have already seen a 13.2 percent increase in the price paid per pound, from $2.65 (€1.94) to $3 (€2.19), and it could get even higher.
"The value of the fishery is staying high and should see a fairly good average for the rest of the year," Link said.
