Speaking at IntraFish’s Seafood Investor Forum, DNB's Oystein Dorum discussed the global economic outlook.

“Growth equals more food,” he said. “And the richer the country, the more calories and more expensive calories it eats.”

This was showcased in the difference in calorie intake between developed countries and developing countries.

Developed countries consumed an average of 3,300 calories per person a day. In contrast, developing countries consumed 2,600 calories per person a day.

In a broad outlook at the economy, he said there was modest growth, but stated growth in the advanced half of the world was on the decline.
