The farm on the southeast side of Smola in western Norway lies five kilometers from the site where PD was detected this summer. The area has been under special supervision the last few months.
Since this summer, well-boat traffic in the region has been redirected away from the area where the farm is sited, in order to minimize any risk of infection from this area.
There are around 1.4 million fish at the farm averaging 1 kilogram in weight.
In consultation with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA), Marine Harvest sent new samples to the National Veterinary Institute for further evaluation.
