Norwegian salmon farmers Krakoy Slakteri's sales dropped to NOK 24 (€2.9/$4.6) million last year, down from NOK 41.7 million (€5.1 million/$7 million) the previous year, due to salmon infected with pancreas disease (PD).

Operating profit came to NOK 1.2 million (€145,434/$200,867), down from NOK 4.5 million (€545,378/$753,250) in 2012.

According to the company's annual report, a slaughtering ban from the PD infections, enacted by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA), brought production to a standstill.

The group cooperated with The Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research (SINTEF), and Innovation Norway, to invest in a sealed/closed holding pen system for use in slaughtering of infected fish.
