Denmark out €13 million thanks to delay in EU-Norway negotiations

For the second year in a row the Danish pelagic fleet has not been able to start on the Atlanto-Scandian herring fishery in Norwegian waters, losing €13 million in revenue as a result.

“Due to the unnecessary delay in negotiations between the EU and Norway, we are missing out on a turnover of approximately €13 million in January and February," Esben Sverdrup-Jensen of the Danish Pelagic Producers Organisation, told IntraFish sister publication Fishing New International.

“This is major blow to the fleet and to the land-based processing industry."
