The landing obligation became a reality for the pelagic and industrial sectors at the beginning of this year, as well as for cod in the Baltic, and is now due to be phased in for other industry sectors at the beginning of 2016.
Michael Andersen at the Danish Fishermen’s Association commented so far, the authorities have been prepared to be flexible as the industry adjusts to new rules, although he said there is a clear realization that this will change as these become more tightly enforced – although there are clear conflicts between the regulations and the solutions.
