The North Sea mackerel fishery is currently under assessment and certifiers Moody Marine Ltd are currently accepting public comments until May 23, with full certification expected to be granted within a month.
The President of the PFA told IntraFish the storming rise of the MSC label meant it was an obvious choice to apply for mackerel following the successful certification of its North Sea herring fishery in May 2006.
