The call was made by NIFES researcher Gro-Ingunn Hemre at Aquaculture Europe exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey as the feed industry moves toward using 100 percent vegetable raw materials.
Debate at a separate conference at the show centered on the sustainability of using only marine raw materials in the aquaculture industry and whether it would better to seek out the best plant oils alternatives.
