Edwards, a former director of the Shellfish Association of Great Britain, passed away in hospital Jan. 13 after a short illness.

He was a former Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food scientist who was a leading authority on all aspects of shellfish.

Despite his scientific expertise and experience, he could communicate easily with fishermen and was never happier than when out on a boat or on a shellfish farm.

He remained active in the industry right until his illness on Christmas Day, when he was admitted to hospital.
