The plan -- scheduled to be completed in 2016 -- will triple the size of the outer lining of the harbor and give fishing vessels a dedicated inner section of the port.
The investment will up the stakes in the race to become Europe’s seafood hub, following the decision of Grimsby, U.K., to invest in a new innovation center, completed in 2008, and planned improvements to the port at Boulogne, France.
Hanstholm’s outer piers will be relocated, giving the port a new look, improving navigational conditions and allowing more goods over the quays.
