The first of the salmon was served in restaurants Tuesday night, including Anthony’s Pier 66 in Seattle. A char-grilled Copper River king salmon was on the menu for $39.95 (€29.39), while the Copper River sockeye was selling for $36.95 (€27.19), David Herrild, general manager, told IntraFish.
Anthony’s employees were at the airport early Tuesday to personally catch the huge Copper River salmon as it was thrown off an Alaska Airlines plane, with local TV crews filming.
“They look good,” Herrild said. “They look like the right color and they’re really fresh.”
