Cromer-based Jonas Seafoods inked a deal with UK retailer Morrisons last month to supply around 5,000 Cromer crabs each week to 200 stores nationwide, reported Eastern Daily Press.
The supermarket chain, which has about 500 UK stores, is now the company's biggest customer, Kevin Jonas, managing director at the firm, said. “It’s really, really taken off."
Jonas Seafood has taken on an extra eight full-time staff to cope with the new contract, boosting employee numbers to about 55.
The welcome move comes three years after the closure of the Cromer Crab Company in the town, with the loss of 230 jobs.
