Critics including the Salmon Farm Protest Group and UK television personality Clarissa Dickson Wright blasted Oliver for his part in promoting smoked salmon in a £4 million advertising campaign for UK retailer Sainsbury's.
Wright called Oliver a "whore" for endorsing a product he didn't use.
Bruce Sandison of the SFPG said Oliver was "ill-advised" to promote a product that was "fat and unhealthy".
In addition, the UK Advertising Standards Agency received five complaints over the television ad campaign, The Times reported.
In September of this year, the SFPG filed a complaint with the ASA over Scottish Quality Salmon's summer newspaper advertising campaign.
