Fishermen in several countries are reeling from the announcement marine researchers are reducing next year’s cod quotas.
For fishermen and industry in Norway, the reduction in the Norwegian quota of 162,000 metric tons is seen as a catastrophe.
The Norwegian fisheries industry will be hardest hit, and many contend the industry is being held to ransom because Norwegian fishermen are law-abiding and do not engage in overfishing.
