When the crab fishing season began in August, the national market for prices for jumbo lump crabmeat was $8.75 (€6.28) per pound, due to companies still having sizeable inventories of the previous season's catch on hand, said Jeffrey Marinez-Malo, hired last month to head the expanding crabmeat operations at U.S.-based seafod suplier International Martketing Specialists (IMS).
"In the U.S. national market today, the jumbo lump prices are peaking at $10.75 (€7.72) to $11.25 (€8.08) per pound; that’s a very strong increase from an August price point of $8.75
