Charoen Pokphand Food (CP Foods) said it is condemning "all aspects of human trafficking and slavery" in the strongest possible terms, after the recent lawsuit filed against it in the United States.
"We take this opportunity to reassert our strong commitment to human rights and a sustainable supply chain," it said.
California resident Monica Sud filed the lawsuit in a San Francisco federal court last week against Costco Wholesale for selling farmed Thai shrimp and misleading US consumers allegedly over the origins of its supply chain and its connections with Thai slave labor.
