A US District Court judge ruled late last week Majestic Blue Fisheries and its alleged parent company Dongwon were negligent in the 2010 sinking of a tuna boat, which killed two people aboard.
Joaquin V.E. Manibusan, Jr., a US Magistrate Judge in the district of Guam, wrote in his ruling the Majestic Blue "was not seaworthy" when it sailed from Guam on May 21, 2010, and its owners knew about the possibility of it sinking at least four months earlier.
"The court finds ample evidence of petitioner’s knowledge of the dangerous conditions aboard the vessel and of petitioner’s acquiescence to these dangers," he wrote.
