Costco buys most of its black tiger shrimp from producers in Vietnam; it buys white shrimp from suppliers in Thailand. Large black tigers are sold as part of the retailer’s "Seafood Road Show" promotions. White shrimp is sold in shrimp platters and other Costco deli items.
During the trip, Costco buyers worked with current suppliers to improve processing practices, one of the buyers told IntraFish on Friday. “And we identified new plants and potential vendors and weeded out some other vendors,” the buyer said.
