IntraFish has received access to information that allegedly is published on Marine Harvest’s intranet.
The information focuses on falling salmon prices and uncertainty over how prices will be the next two years. It outlines the intention to cut costs and postpone investments. It points out the cost cuts shall be achievable, sensible and healthy.
The information on the company’s intranet stresses cost cutbacks are not easy in this industry. You can’t just stop feeding the fish, or stop slaughtering or processing.
Cost cuts that reduce biological output, or food safety, environmental responsibility or safety and health of colleagues, or undermine the company’s position in the salmon market, are not the intention and will not be accepted.
