Chilean-based Ventisqueros harvested salmon raised in copper pens last week, and the venture could just be the beginning of a gradual but significant sea change in salmon farming practices.

Its 7,000 metric ton harvest boast bigger, healthier fish than usual due to a technology that the International Copper Association hopes to spread across the globe through Ecosea, the company it put in place in Chile, ICA Aquaculture Applications Manager Langley Gace told IntraFish.

"This is a very positive trend in sustainable marine aquaculture," Perez, who is also Chairman of the Board of Ecosea, told IntraFish.
